Founded by Lloyd and Harv Leighty, Leighty’s began as a small produce operation in Newry, Pennsylvania. Established in the early 1900s, the brothers focused on providing fresh, locally sourced produce to their community, laying the foundation for what would become a multi-generation family business.

After returning from military service, Donald Leighty, son of Lloyd, took over the market and began a period of steady expansion. Under Don’s leadership, the produce business grew in stages, setting the groundwork for Leighty’s transformation into a larger, more established farm market.

Leighty’s reached a major milestone with the addition of a large greenhouse dedicated to bedding plants. This expansion marked a turning point, broadening the business beyond produce and introducing seasonal plant offerings that would become a lasting part of the Leighty’s experience.

Don’s daughter Donna and her husband Brian took over the market, continuing the family tradition. Under their leadership, Leighty’s remained committed to stressing quality, fresh products, and strong community values while building on the foundation set by previous generations.

Today, Leighty’s blends tradition with growth, offering fresh produce, seasonal plants in Flower World, sweet treats in Candy World, and a variety of unique in-store experiences. What began as a small produce stand has truly become a destination, continuing to serve the community with the same care and quality that defined its beginnings.
